This exhibition will tell the story of a post-war Chinatown landmark’s unique and total design by Vladimir Ossipoff (1907-1998), Hawaii’s most renowned architect of the 20th century. Primarily a modern structure with touches of the Orient, Ossipoff’s design is remarkably contextual and timeless. Today, as Chinatown is about to be transformed by a mass transit station nearby, this building’s preservation and revitalization are essential to perpetuate the legacies of both its designer and district around it.
